Two-time US Open winner Retief Goosen was disqualified on Wednesday after he overslept and missed his tee off time for the Pro-Am portion of the 4.8 million dollar PGA Los Angeles event. The 36-year-old South African, who finished a career best sixth on the PGA Tour money list in 2004, was scheduled to tee off in the first group of the day on Wednesday.

Goosen, at No 5 in the world, was the highest-ranked player in the competition behind Tiger Woods.

The absence of Goosen leaves two-time defending Los Angeles champion Mike Weir (6th) as the top-ranked golfer behind Woods, who is No 2.
